No. 15 / Summer 1994

Since last month's Spring post we had such warm days that I had to get out and mow the front yard.  Then immediately after that it became so cold that this April has been, in my mind, the coldest I've ever seen it around the Great Lakes area.  At the beginning of this week it was warm again, and now it's back to somewhat normal temperatures for this time of year.  With that, I'm happy to come up with a second Spring event with the posting of SS #15, actually from the Summer of 1994.

Naturally my favorites from this issue are Johnny Sheffield & Acquanetta!  Nonetheless, there's much to learn about Val Guest, Dashiell Hammett, the Quatermass Phenomenon and more.  (See you at the end of May for SS#16.)

After Val Guest retired in 1985, the couple lived together in retirement in California.  An autobiography "So You Want to be in Pictures" was published in 2001.  A "Golden Palm Star" was   dedicated to both Val Guest and Yolande Donlan on the Palm Springs, California, Walk of Stars in 2004.

Val Guest passed away from prostate cancer on May 10, 2006 at age 94.  Yolande Donlan died on December 30, 2014 at the age of 94.
